Wikipedia Challenge
From A Wiki Called Reason
On April 26, 2008, lonewacko issued Rimfax a Wikipedia Challenge.[1] This challenge appears to be that Rimfax address the edits that lonewacko made that were reverted.[2] The challenge is somewhat vague at this time, but the challenge seems to be to attempt to discredit the premise that there is a left-wing conspiracy in a position of editorial authority on the Wikipedia. Rimfax accepted on April 27, 2008.[3]
[edit] Conclusion
lonewacko's source is obviously ineligible per Wikipedia:WP:External Links and Wikipedia:WP:Reliable Sources. Reams of editorial, blog, or inexpert forum content is still reams of unsupporting sources. Regardless, Jsw663 still threw you a bone and you didn't even bother to respond on the arbitration page.[4]
In fact, your only contribution to your own arbitration was to make an opening statement. No offer of compromise and no acknowledgment of the options left open to you.
Your "conspiracy" of liberals removing your link consisted of one editor who realized that your link violated several policies, including the one on self-promotion. –Rimfax 12:06, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Response
The challenge actually involved the posts at one of my sites as well as the posts concerning WP at another of my sites, with those about WP obtainable through the search function. It also involved my editing history. The overall point was negative information I added to articles about leftwing sources or people was eventually removed for one reason or other, with the bottom line being that those reading the WP entry were receiving less information than they should. The example discussed above somewhat proves my point about WP's rules being idiotic. Their rules might forbid sites like mine from being linked, and my point is that that's an idiotic rule. That's illustrated by the fact that my site has 100 times as much content in bytes as the WP article and those who want in-depth information will have to search for it. Of course, it's difficult to search for something if you aren't familiar with an issue. The point is also that my site was linked from that page for several months before someone with some sort of agenda worked to remove it, and based on the various smears against the site I suspect it was more ideological than just WP procedural.
- Okay. Thanks for responding. I'll update you here on what I find. You may want to create a Wikia account and "watch" this page to get an email update since I might not get back here promptly. –Rimfax 19:24, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
