Commenter

A commenter on Hit & Run is a rough approximation of a name and a URL. There is no registration and anyone can duplicate the email address or URL chosen, so commenters are easily and occasionally faked.
As a result, anything that is attributed to a commenter should be taken with a grain of salt. Since not only may the commenter not be who they claim to be or even the owner of the email address or URL used, they may not be the same person who used that same name and URL earlier in the same thread. It is consensual chaos.
It is generally considered extremely poor manners to post impersonating somebody else. Posting with a pseudonym or joke tag is preferable. Joke tags, (U.S. Grant, thoreau's mother, etc.) are often necessary as part of the post's joke/point.
